San Antonio, Texas, United States
Fri, Feb 18 – Traders Village

It thunderstormed and rained quite a bit during the night . For most of the day, the clouds were heavy and it was windy and cold. We talked about going to a movie, but Gil said he was going to go to Traders Village and I was interested, so we all went.

Traders Village is a flea market development on the other side of San Antonio. It has hundreds of storage lockers, which people rent to set up their wares for sale. A lot of it is new stuff; some of it is garage sale stuff. It was outdoor, but was somewhat sheltered, so although we were cold it was good to be outside. The sun even came out for a bit. Gil can smell a bargain from a mile away, so he was in his glory. He bought a couple of leather belts, a golf club tool, some sunglasses ... he does love a bargain. Roger was Gil's shopping buddy (now affectionately referred to as Gil’s shopping bitch). LOL. Lois and I shopped together - she came away empty handed; my big purchase was a large Mexican pottery serving dish for $15.   :)

We spent the afternoon there, then headed home . Roger and I were on supper detail, so we stopped at the H.E.B. to pick up some catfish. We had a Texas/Louisiana supper – fried catfish, Creole rice, cornbread muffins, and asparagus, with King Cake for dessert.

After supper, the movie Wild Hogs was on TV, and we all had a lot of good laughs watching it together.

Sat, Feb 19 – Oooooklahoma!

Wow, what a beautiful day!! Clear blue skies and bright sun!! Yay!! Gil was out for a walk first thing this morning to get the newspaper – beautiful calm day.

When we were at South Padre Island, Lois and I checked around on the internet for things going on in San Antonio. We both like musicals, and we saw that Oklahoma! was playing at the San Pedro Playhouse, so we bought tickets. And that was where Lois and I headed this afternoon for the 2:30 matinee performance. Gil & Roger dropped us off early so we could wander a bit in the area around the theatre . We went to look at a beautiful Jewish temple nearby, and an old German immigrant’s coach house, then walked around the park where the Playhouse is located.

After dropping us off, Gil & Roger headed to check out a golf course they planned to play on Monday. Then they drove downtown to walk around at the Riverwalk and the Alamo. Gil wanted to check out El Mercado (Market Square – the Mexican market) where, Roger says, "Gil went into each and every one of the 82 shops". Gil initially was looking for a Mexican platter for Lois, who was kicking herself for not buying one at Traders Village too. He quickly realized that I had gotten a fabulous deal, as similar ones at El Mercado were $40 (compared to my $15), so he abandoned that. He’s talking of heading back to Traders Village next Saturday. Anyway, they each bought a souvenir, then headed back to pick us up from the play.

The boys were responsible for supper, so Pizza Hut it was. ;o) After supper, I got a shit kicking at Lambsy (bastards ... they were merciless, and are both in the doghouse now), then we watched a little of Amazing Race and The Good Wife before hitting the sack.
