Freycinet Lodge, Tasmania, Australia
We tidied up and walked over to the Lodge about 4pm for a drink before the wine tasting.
When we entered the reception area and proceeded down the stares we were met with amazing views. We walked outside onto the balcony for a look at the view and take a few photos.
Back inside and time for a pre tasting drink
Before we attended the the tasting we were amazed that every staff member to date recognised us and wished us Happy Anniversary. This was to continue all evening.
We ventured over to the tasting and checked in with Sam and Hana. Sam led the tasting and was brilliant very informative and knowledgeable.
We started with a Freycinet Rambetti Sparkling, this was accompanied by a goats cheese puree on a cracker.
Followed by Springvale Riesling and a natural Melshell Oyster.
Then a Gala Estate Chardonnay and smoked salmon in cucumber ring.
Followed by a Best Pinot Noir - very nice. this was accompanied by Scottsdale Pork Belly
Next is a Craige Knowe Cabernet Sauvignon very nice with lamb and mint yoghurt
Finally we were surprised to se the Milton Dunbabin Syrah this was accompanied by a Cape Grim beef canape. This is the cream of the tasting.
The tasting of wines was generous portions and great fun.
About an hour later we moved over to the dining room and had dinner.
Linda had a main of salmon and vegetables I had a 6 sample of oysters 2 x natural, 2 with salsa and 2 with a Japanese Guzzi and dill sauce. This was followed by the pork belly.
Linda had a desert of caramelised fig ice-cream and apricot sorbet, very nice it came with a large love chocolate heart
A great day was had then back to the cabin for the night
