Woke to an warm overcast day temperature about 22deg
We placed some parrot seed out and a solitary dove visited
We headed out for a look around and also to collect a few caches.
Went to the view point of the entrance of Lakes Entrance
We also located this old pump motor assembly of the old dredge that serviced the Lakes Entrance
We went in search of an Earthcache
Lakes Entrance is well known for its endless beaches, beautiful coastal lakes and great fishing but it is less well known as the historic home of Australian oil. The first real Australian oil field was found at this site, near Lake Bunga, in 1924. Not only was the first oil field found here but eventually, after much exploration, very large commercial quantities of oil and gas were discovered in associated off shore deposits.
The photo of the rig is a memorial of the oil filed you can see Grumbli climbing up the rig
We were going to Wyanga Park winery for dinner so we had to go in the afternoon and have a taste of what they have. Very nice Sauvignon Bland, 2 Field Blend White, 3 Cabernet and 1 Shiraz, the Shiraz is nice but young, They also have a port and a muscat. They serve there muscat frozen which changes the flavour for the better. We also had a platter for lunch
Went back to our accomodation and logged caches while doing this we had crimson parrots arrive so out went the rest of the seed. At one stage we had 7 parrots at once
Caching total to date 24, - 8 trad, 2 puzzles, 7 virtual, 3 multi, 3 Earthcache, 1 Trig
We came back for dinner, Linda had Gummy Shark, and Sticky Date Pudding, I had Steamed Pork dumplings and Seafood Chowder. They also had the Nowa Nowa Mens Choir who come in on a Thursday to rehears they sang a lot of different songs like Georgie Girl, Only 19
