Just out of Omeo we stopped to collect a cache near this old Historical Bridge. This bridge played an important part in the history of Omeo. Built in 1923 by unemployed returned servicemen it honours those who died in action during WWI.
Seventy two people were killed throughout Victoria during the January 1939 bushfires, but only one person died in Omeo, mainly because some of the women and children sought refuge under the bridge until the danger had passed.
We turned into the Mount Kosciusko Lookout
We then headed towards Harrietville over the Southern Alps. During the trip we had a complete whiteout where we could only see a few metres in front of us. We followed behind a car that was going at 15km an hour we followed him for about 10km. He had plenty of places to pull over to let traffic through. He eventually did suddenly in front of me on the inside of a tight bend. I had to stamp on the break and almost stood on my nose.
Arrived in Harrietville where Linda had a lemon sorbet
