I've spent the last two days reading and writing short assignments for uni (I'm half way through a graduate certificate of something-something and semester one started a week into the holiday). Now they're out of the way I can have a break before starting on the next two tonight.

Hong Kong is a total washout
. We've gone from 35 degrees in Ho Chi Minh city to a particularly windy, chillly 12 degrees today. We have coats and jumpers but with the threat of Shanghai being even colder than Hong Kong we will need thick socks, gloves and scarfs.
---
It was raining last night as we arrived, and it has continued raining for much of today. Our plan is to take the pre-booked Big Bus hop-on, hop-off tour to have a look around the city, to take the Peak Tram and visit the Peak lookout but it is pointless to go visit a mountaintop for the sake of the view when you can't see the mountain for the clouds. Instead we take the shuttle bus to the ferry terminal and wander listlessly for an hour, have coffee, then give up on the city, returning to the ship in search of hot soup and noodles at one of the Kai Tak cruise terminal cafes.
What a silly idea that turns out to be. Kai Tak terminal is very new, only completed last year, I think
. It used to be the runway of the old airport. It is a little under supplied. There is one duty free shop and one restaurant – but the terminal is half the size of a major airport runway, it makes no sense. What makes even less sense is the sign that directs you to the shop and restaurant from the car park. It leads you to an escalator, then another escalator which leads you outside to a part of the roof garden. Once on the roof we (two busloads of people) run through the rain to the only open door, then we stand in the rain filing through, one-by-one.
Once inside he shop we we find an alternate, dry route that we could have used (nice) and that to get to the restaurant we need go up one more level then run through the rain again. We decide to go back to the ship.

Hot sour soup is the perfect lunch for today, followed later by fresh cookies and coffee.
