Our flight is great. It is Mum's and my first time on an A380. It hardly feels like you're flying. Singapore Airlines food is always great, and it was very hot so it was safe for me to eat (because of the anti-rejection drugs).
Mum found that she can't watch the TV screen in front of her – it makes her dizzy – but watching my screen isn't a problem - so I watch movies with subtitles so she can follow
the story
. We choose 'Attack on Titan'. Mum loves it - something about naked, neutered giants catches her imagination.

The Concord Hotel on Orchard road is great. We have a courtesy mobile phone filled with lots of pre-downloaded information, and free local calls, to take as we explore the shops.

Today is our second day in Singapore. On our first day, after walking 2 kilometres around Sydney airport, we walked another 5 after we arrived in Singapore while we were looking for dinner. We eventually had all-you-can-eat hot-pot on Orchard road. I think I've never seen Mum more tired in her life - and I've seen her after a she's stayed up to watch Eurovision.

Mum has bought a nice hat.

We are transferring to our next hotel today - Marina Bay Sands
.

Walking into the foyer is an almost religious, pants-piddling experience. Greater than most cathedrals the ceiling soars twenty stories into the air, perhaps more, the walls are almost as far apart. Looking ahead, I can't see where it ends. Our room is in the third tower, the furthest from the entrance (not a short walk).
On the way to the lift we count 5 restaurants and thousands of people.
Our room on the 53rd floor overlooks the gardens, the harbour and the ocean beyond. There's only one toilet, which is really annoying (but not as big a deal as I make it out to be). I consider changing hotels, but the view makes it impossible to leave, even (perhaps) if there had been no toilets at all.
Up on the roof we all exclaim, WOW! The swimming pool stretches most of the way along the deck (which spans level 57 of the three towers)
. There are trees and flowers everywhere in this hotel, which is very Singapore, even on the roof.
Its not long before the wind picks up so we head down to the basement levels for a look at the shopping centre and to get some dinner. In the food court we sit next to the ice skating rink to eat.
After dinner we spend another half hour making our way back to our room - the distances within this complex are immense. My watch tells me that we walked 10 kilometres during the day. I think Mum feels it, but doesn't want to believe it.

It's Thursday morning, we're off to have breakfast on the roof then for an excursion into the Gardens by the Bay.
