Best Day Ever seeing Sammy

Paraparaumu, North Island, New Zealand
No lie in this morning but off to get the ferry at 8.15 for our trip to the Kapiti Island nature reserve. Definitely no full English or coffee either just the water and sandwiches we took. The boat had to be dragged into the water by a very large tractor and then just drove onto the beach on the island for us to disembark.
Very interesting talk and 1 hour tour by our Maori guide then off we headed to the summit on the trig track . This was the harder of the two paths to the top and once again we were clambering over tree roots and walking a narrow path next to an incline. Didn't see any other oldies on this path just a few youngsters sprinting up. Unfortunately the summit was disappointing as the top of the island was swathed in mist. So a quick turnaround and back down the so called easier path which was a bit slippy in places. After our 3 hour trek we wolfed down lunch then collapsed on the shore edge.
The return ferry was late which was frustrating as we knew Sammy was waiting for us and we were dying to see her after a year apart. Lovely lovely reunion. Evening cooking in and catching up before heading off to Martinborough tomorrow for some wine tasting, yummy.
