Back to the South Island

Picton, South Island, New Zealand
Still overcast this morning but definitely getting warmer and less windy which is exactly what I needed for our ferry crossing. We had parked the car downtown last night as we had been advised by our landlord and signage on Oriental Parade that the road would be closed from 6am until 2pm and parked cars would be towed away. Well the road was not closed to traffic and cars parked as usual although the advertised triathlon was in progress on the pavement. Perhaps it was a trick or they forgot to actually close the road. At least we got our exercise walking to the car (parked at the top of a steep road, thanks Graham).
Onto the ferry for our 3 hour crossing at 1 .30 and instantly purchased much needed coffee, which in fact wasn't too bad. Cannot imagine the same could be said for a Channel ferry. Crossing not too lumpy but not warm enough to sit outside. Now in situ at our Airbnb, Ken's in Picton. Very pleasant view over the town, may get a photo in the morning if the sun comes out.
Walking down to town to find a nice place to eat overlooking the marina. Unfortunately uphill coming back, but where isn't in NZ.
