A day of two ships

Wellington, North Island, New Zealand
Farewell Nelson and back on the road although only a two hour scenic road trip to Picton. No time for coffee but do not despair as we had Sammy's plunger go mugs which are excellent.
Couple of hours in Picton to visit the Edwin Fox museum and ship . Once again a good museum plus film of the ship's history. The Edwin Fox is a merchant ship built in 1853 and is the only surviving Australian convict ship, the only surviving troop transport ship for the Crimean War and the oldest merchant sailing ship still afloat although she is now in a dry dock! You could almost feel all the history as you walked around her and it is great she has been saved.
Second ship of the day was our Interislander ferry back to Welly. 3.5 hours sitting in the sunshine surveying the beautiful Queen Charlotte Sound then a slow disembarkation and off to our digs for a quick turnaround to head off to dinner at Sammy's bar, excellent. To finish the evening we stopped for a couple of drinks at Duncan's cocktail bar, churlish not to.
