Maleny, Queensland, Australia

Great self contained digs on a cattle farm outside Maleny and it was lovely to meet our host Fiona this morning . She looked bright as a button considering she and hubby Peter had been to a 60th the night before, obviously has the same genes as her sister Tara at home in East Worldham. Back down the hill to Brisbane and nice to see the view this morning (once the rain had stopped). Needed to be in the CBD by 11am to meet an old friend from the UK, Joan, who lives on the Gold Coast. Eventually after satnav error! and entering the carpark despite the sign saying full, we obviously needed coffee and pleased to report just as good as NZ. Brisbane is a surprisingly nice city and as recommended by Fiona we took the City Cat down river and as you can imagine Graham was in his element. Graham and I then spent a fascinating hour in the Queensland museum but ran out of time so will return. Bit slow driving home but thought we'd stop at an Aldi en route – big disappoint AND we discovered supermarkets in Australia don't sell alcohol. Also Liquor stores shut early, do Aussies have a drinking problem! But you will be pleased to hear we were directed to a drive through liquor store that was open but expensive but beggars cannot be choosers. Still 20+ degrees at 8pm but a relief after the 30 degrees at midday.
