Ocean Rafting - not for the faint hearted

Airlie Beach, Queensland, Australia
Well it's a good job we had years of experience in our youth on 18-30’s and Buddies holidays with Julia to prepare us for today's day out. The guy who booked our trip with Ocean Rafting must have thought it would be highly amusing to send us out on a rib doing 60kms/hr with 30 twenty to thirty year olds. In fact it was great fun and we didn't fancy the other option of going on a sedate sailing boat.
It became apparent that the object of the day was to get as wet as possible and we had been warned that it was a rough sea which only made us wetter, along with the rain at one point . First stop was off Border Island where we donned our stinger suits which weren't too bad to wear and snorkelled over the coral for an hour. Visibility was good considering the dull day and we even managed to see a giant turtle. Then full pelt to Hill Inlet on Whitsunday Island. We had a one hour bush walk with excellent views over Whitehaven Beach where the rib moored up for lunch. Tasha would not have liked the two giant spiders at the loo stop though. Afterwards an hour to either swim or wander along Whitehaven Beach which is one of the top ten beaches in the world.
Absolutely shattered and battered when we got back so shower and off to town for our coffee we missed this morning, and then maybe a beer before dinner.
