Finding Nemo

A brilliant day out to the Great Barrier Reef on a great cataraman. Set off in cloud and some rain mid morning but the afternoon turned sunny which made the coral look even more stunning. A relief to be out on the water (and in it for 3 hours) away from the humidity.
Luckily after the briefing most of the other snorkelers stayed below in the a/c so there was plenty of room up top to enjoy the 1 .5 hour ride out to the outer reef. We then snorkelled in three different spots on the outer reef close to the Continental Shelf and each time it just got better and better. Couldn't believe each stop went so quickly and the only negative for the day was we didn't see any sharks but we did see an array of different fish, including the small clown fish (Nemo) and of course beautiful coral. Staff on the boat were very informative and provided a delicious lunch which didn't stop us floating in the afternoon.
Not too tired when we got back to go out for a beer and found a nice open air bar very reminiscent of the Caribbean but forgot about the bitey bugs! Still the beer was the best so far though still not great
