Dripping in the Ancient Rainforest

Port Douglas, Queensland, Australia
Phew another muggy day so a/c on and headed off north to Cape Tribulation, named by Captain Cook when he damaged his ship on the reef. Another mode of transport today, a chain ferry across the Daintree River, then a windy road through the world's most ancient rainforest, now a world heritage site.
Still needed coffee though and stopped at the Lync-Haven wildlife cafe . Coffee good and interesting wildlife - pythons, parakeets, cockatoo and orphaned kangaroos. Cape Tribulation was another deserted beach, no swimming because of crocs and stingers with only a short walk to the lookout.
Longer boardwalk through mangroves at Noah Beach on way back and nice to see the recycled plastic bottles used once again to make the pathway. Quick local Daintree ice cream where we bumped into three Dutch girls who had been on the rib at Airlie Beach with us. Back on the ferry to make our 4pm river cruise to try and see crocodiles. Nice touch, served beer and peanuts and even better we saw 3 crocs - one female hidden in the mangroves, a young male (2.5 metres) sunning and an older male (4 metres) swimming. Downside was the boat owner waxing lyrical about his Missionary parents and the abuse of the Aborigines.

Again, the old cock a two eh? Poor old Von R obviously affected by the humidity. When he's back UP to it, maybe the Missionary advice will help....
