Botanical Gardens post hangover

Melbourne, Victoria, Australia
Fortunately or unfortunatey perhaps, Graham found a beer he liked and also unfortunately it was 6.8% proof and he consumed too many. Still we had a great evening catching up with Sam at a good fun restaurant with live music. Perhaps the last one in the bar next door was not a good idea though.
A slow start this morning and straight to a restaurant for breakfast which was scrummy but an extra surcharge of 5% for a Sunday was a bit unnecessary . Back on the tram to The Shrine of Remembrance, a monument honouring Australian soldiers who gave their lives in war. A great view across Melbourne from the top. Four remembrance gardens surrounded the structure and were very artistically designed using different materials to represent different aspects of the wars ie train sleepers for the Burma railway.
Then across the road to the Royal Botanical Garden but first stop coffee, iced as the sun had come out. We then spent a lovely couple of hours just wandering around the various gardens, before back on the tram to St. Kilda waterfront and a walk down the pier. Managed to see a couple of the little penguins that frequent the breakwater by the pier.
Local dinner tonight and hopefully not too many beers as we have a long drive to Canberra tomorrow.
