Ferry to Sydney

Sydney, New South Wales, Australia
Phew did it rain through the night and early morning. Luckily by the time we set off it had stopped and we just had to skirt large puddles. First stop was coffee to go, good, and to purchase our Opal cards which give you unlimited ferry and bus travel for a day for a maximum of $15 which is good value as the return ferry from Manly to Sydney alone is $15.60.
A great, if somewhat lumpy crossing to Sydney with brilliant views of the Harbour Bridge and Opera House . Sydney skyline quite reminiscent of Auckland with ferries coming and going in front of the high rise buildings. Walked along the foreshore past The Opera House and around the Botanical Gardens to the far side, dodging the hoards of joggers, shouldn't they have been at work. Okay lunch at the Café in the gardens fighting off the scavenging ibis who were worse than pigeons.
Nice leisurely sightsee through The Domain, up Macquarie Street past Parliament House and The Mint, down Market Street (like Oxford Street) and into Darling Harbour. Unfortunately the boats at the Maritime Museum, one of which is a replica of Captain Cooks Endeavour, closed at 4pm so Graham and I may go back at the weekend. To make use of our Opal cards and keep Von Ryan happy we took a ferry back to Circular Quay via a circuitous route before taking the ferry back to Manly.
A walk in the drizzle back into Manly for dinner to a fun Japanese/pub fusion restaurant. Japanese food was very good and local beer palpable. We then trawled Manly for a bar as everything was closing but managed to find a great small Brewhouse. Several drinks later (must be Sammy’s influence) Graham staggered home and Sammy and I normally.
