A very very slow drive to the airport in the pouring rain this morning with a cool temperature of 16 degrees. Then a slow transfer by car hire company and a slow check in despite there not being much of a queue, just families checking in with too much luggage. Only had time for a recovery coffee before boarding. 
Singapore Airline flight passed quite quickly with no mishaps today . Nice to feel warm again until we got to the hotel foyer, freezing. Nice hotel not far from Chinatown but with typical non distinct bar so we went for a quick beer across the road. Had been warned of how expensive drink is here and they are right once you add the additional 20% tax too so will be heading out earlier to take advantage of happy hour prices. 
Off on inclusive half day sightseeing tour tomorrow which will at least give us the lie of the land before we do our own touring.
