Singapore City Tour

Singapore, Singapore
Phew a busy hot and sticky day but great getting to know Singapore for the first time. Off on an inclusive half day city sightseeing coach tour. Not usually our thing but once we got over the on/off the bus routine it wasn't too bad apart from the crowds at some of the sights. Graham happy following the bus route on our map and it did give us an insight into how the Singaporeans, rich and poor, work and live as the guide was very informative.
Back by 1 .00 and still no coffee and in fact had none all day as the only coffee places we saw were Starbucks which we don't like. We did however sample an iced sugar cane drink with our dim sum at a street stall. Food excellent and the drink was not as sweet as expected.
Remainder of the afternoon we walked to Raffles for a look, saw the queue for Tiffin and looked at The Long Bar. Very slow walk back in humidity (getting train passes tomorrow), so as it was 5pm and you have to take advantage of happy hour we stopped for a recovery beer.
We then had an excellent evening with Nick (Jan & Ben's son working here) and his Australian girlfriend, Sarah. Drinks and then dinner at Boat Quay looking at the iconic Marina Bay Sands Hotel which did a light show twice in the evening. A very enjoyable evening and Nick gave us some recommendations for our next two days, drinking and cultural of course.
