Managed a reasonable nights sleep and felt quite refreshed for our first days sightseeing. Luang Prabang is a very peaceful town and not at all touristy and the people are charming and lovely. We started the day with a tour of the morning market, afternoon market starts after lunch surprisingly! Vegetables and rice all looked very appetising but wasn’t sure about the intestines, bile and the roasted rat.
We then had a walking tour of a couple of sacred temples one of which houses all the local buddhas saved from destruction over the last few centuries followed by a very nice coffee in a French colonial cafe, result.
Fully refreshed next stop The National Museum, a former Royal Palace housing gifts from foreign nations including a rock from the moon donated by the USA. Interesting royal apartments vacated in the mid 70’s when the King was deposed.
Final stop after lunch was the Ock Pop Tock weaving centre meaning ‘east meets west’ where we learnt about silk production and watched some very intricate weaving. Unfortunately because of the time involved in the weaving the items were very expensive but beautiful.
Luckily we were back to the hotel in time for Happy Hour before having a leisurely evening.

Spectacular Buddha’s snd so much detail, reminds me of the tombs in Luxor. Do you need mosquito protection where you are?
