It was lovely when I woke up knowing that I just had myself to please today. The heat and humidity really takes it out of you. I went for a leisurely breakfast this morning and saw all the campers so it was good to see that nobody have carked it during the night. I made my way to the park and got caught up in a bike race. I got to the thermal spa only two be told that it didn’t open until 11 am. What to do with an hour so, I know go down the shop. I’ve stocked up with supplies for the day. I’m having prosciutto and Parmesan salad with a full bottle of Prosecco followed by biscotti for lunch and then an afternoon large moretti.
My Prosecco says happy anniversary on it - well, I’m sure it’s someone’s somewhere. Walking back from the super Mickey Doo I came across a beautiful sound, it was a youth band / orchestra and the music they were playing, made me feel really emotional. Not sure the tear rolling down my cheek was a good look but the music was fabulous and it really touched me. Maybe I’m just feeling a bit sorry for myself but hey, I’m over it now. After taking my supplies back to the shack and refilling my water bottle I made my way through the park again to the spa, this time I was allowed to go in. I opted not to have the €30 doctor review to see if I was able to drink the water instead I just cupped some in my hand and drank it, let’s see if I get the shits later. I went to the rejuvenating Fountain in the hope that I will look 21 when I come home not sure it’s going to work! If the water doesn’t upset my stomach, the apperol spritz may considering how much alcohol they use, they guess the measures. Nothing is measured in any of the drinks which is quite good really because they give it to you in a huge wine glass so you end up drinking at least half a pint of Prosecco in each apperol spritz LOL.
Terme Tettuccio is a beautiful architectural building surrounded by lovely gardens full of statues, umbrella trees and even a lucky boar. After my “spa experience” I walked back through the park and down dog shit alley for a bit of respite from the sun. The heat is so oppressive that it doesn’t take long before you are melting and needing to rinse shade and drink.
Water is very good but so is beer!At lunch time I got back to my room and ate my salad and washed it down with water, I’ll save the Prosecco for tomorrow. Next I went to sit by the pool (in the shade) with my water flask (filled with beer) It was so refreshing getting in the pool, anywhere else I would be a whimp getting in but any kind of respite here is welcomed. After the pool I got showered and ready for the evening and made the mistake of going for a walk before dinner, I am sweating like a pig. This weather is freak and even the locals are struggling except for the kid in the cross country mountain bike race. Dinner wasn’t too bad again tonight but it is so hot in the dining room especially when all the Germans are in - not that there is a problem with Germans but there are just so many in their group, about 40 I would say. I hate to think what it would be like if all of the tables were full.
We walked into the square tonight and watched part of an international dance competition, not sure how it got judged as there was folk dancing, Irish dancing and cheerleading. It was buzzing and like being at a party where no one told you the dress code. There were hundreds of people walking around in traditional costumes but I didn’t see any morris dancers.
After a couple of mimosas i it was time to get back to the shack for some shut eye ready for the next full day tour.
Having a great time and Tuscany is beautiful.
