Cooking by the pool

Playacar, Quintana Roo, Mexico
Good morning, another day trying to get a tan so it a least looks like we’ve been away. After breakfast we go ourself set up on sunbeds  ready for the day ahead, perfect position for the sea, pool and swim up bar. We were also quite close to the kids pool and play area, the children were very well behaved it was the dads making a row! It was one of the kids birthday and they had a party for them and in the afternoon they strung a piñata up between 2 palm trees and they had great fun wacking the hell out if it and even more fun scrambling for the sweets once it was open. Manc slapper was on the prowl today looking for people to talk with but we’ve got it sussed, no eye contact done the trick. We must be getting used to the cold pools as it seems easier to get to the bar now however, when you are sat on one of the stools at the bar if a large portion walks by they can create but if a wave which is still quite a shock to the system. The sea was a bit rougher today but the weed wasn’t as bad so I braved it and once you were in it was fine. The hardest part about going in the sea is the walk back up the beach to the sun bed, how come some people look so glamorous and I just look like a wreck struggling to walk through the sand.
We didn’t cook for too long today as we wanted to go down the town to see what was going on. We got a taxi to the strip which was super lazy as it would have only been about a 40 minute walk but hey ho. We mooched around some nice shops and then into the shit souvenir shops, it’s a load of junk and we’re gutted that you can’t get a tea towel, every holiday place has tea towels! There was lots of different street entertainment going on and there was the strangest place ever in the middle of bars and restaurants, there was a place where you could have your photo taken with a lion and a tiger. I know it’s probably not politically correct (but am I?) they were super cute little cubs and you could feed them bottles of milk, I so would have done that in another life. We went into a swing bar and had cocktails before making our way back to the hotel. When we got back to the hotel I had a quick snack of chicken fajitas and then watched the end of the entertainment, it was a mariachi band. The singer was really getting on my wick as all he kept doing was seeing how long he could hold a note for, it was ok once and maybe twice but after that it was too much and I felt like punching him. It was time to neck the drinks and bed - I’m shattered and I’ve done sod all - goodnight x
