Woomera bound

Woomera, South Australia, Australia
4/4/2015 — 1 night Woomera Travellers Village ($25 p/n)

Was up just before 7am and caught the sunrise ... It certainly didn't disappoint us!

Headed west to a little town called Morgan where we took a ferry crossing over the mighty Murray River. We would have liked to have spent a night here... Very pretty town with a great caravan park right on the riverfront and gorgeous houses...

Passed through Burra which is an old mining town and is now listed as a state heritage town. Absolutely stunning architecture.

Decided not to stop at Port Augusta... Which could have been a very bad decision... As there is absolutely nothing and I really mean NOTHING between here and Pimba/Woomera.

90kms out of Woomera and the fuel tank is reading 1/4 full, at this point we have a mantra going "We will make it, We will make it". Hills and a strong head wind didn't help and not used to towing the Vansion we had no idea how far we would get once the fuel light came on.

Luckily we made it to Spuds Roadhouse literally on the sniff of an oily rag... Both fuel gauges were past the empty mark. New mantra... "We love you car" (Insert pat dashboard here).

Arrived at Woomera Traveller's Village Caravan Park and celebrated our near stranding with a cold drink.

Caught up with a few grey nomads at the on-site shipping container bar, had dinner then watched the blood moon.

Things we learnt...
1. Fuel is a very important asset on a road trip.
