Barmera, South Australia, Australia
3/4/2015 — 1 night

We left home around 6am and headed to the Calder Hwy .

We stopped a couple of times for fuel and food... Must say there is nothing like hauling a kitchen and toilet right behind you... Very convenient!

There is a lot of nothingness out here except when you hit the Australian Interstate Quarantine checkpoint at the South Australian boarder. This was probably the most action we had seen all day!

Here we handed over any restricted items... There goes my Zucchini noodles :( Side note... You are allowed to keep any pre-packaged fruit and veg as it is deemed to have been washed. Great I got to keep our coleslaw and pack of Cos lettuce :)

Our initial plan was to stay overnight in Mildura however we needed to fill up our water tanks and this was proving a little tricky. Most of the Petrol stations didn't quite cater to getting our van in the right spot to fill up.

So after 12 hrs on the road we ended up at Lake Bonney... Beautiful little free camping spot with a great view. We enjoyed our Good Friday Dukah and quinoa crusted fish and coleslaw, washed down with a couple of cold beverages. In bed by 9pm and ready for a good night sleep.

Things we learnt...

1. Apparently it is caravan etiquette to wave to fellow caravan nomads whilst passing... I think we will be suffering from RSI in 5 months time.!
2. Make sure you have some water in your tank.
