19/4/2015 - 1 night Daly Waters Pub ($14 p/p)

Up early and on the road by 7:30am and a quick stop at Renner Springs to refuel, cute little roadhouse with outback feel .

Stopped at Sir Charles Todd Memorial. Todd personally planned and oversaw the completion of The Overland Telegraph Line which took less then 2 years to construct. (Pretty bloody impressive given the terrain and it was back in the 1800's). It consisted of 36,000 poles and spanned 3177kms. The final join in the Overland Telegraph was made 1.6kms west of here by Engineer Robert Patterson on 22 August 1872. This line finally linked Australia to Europe and England. (History lesson officially over!)

Arrived at the iconic Daly Waters Pub and caravan park early afternoon and checked in for 1 night and pre-booked dinner. Dinner is at 6:30pm or 7:00pm and there are three things on the menu... Beef and salad, Barra and salad or Beef and Barra with salad... We chose the combo and it certainly didn't disappoint!

We were shown to our site by the caretaker on his trusty push bike, then a quick set up then off to check out the pub and have a swim. (Finally a pool that wasn't 2 degrees).

Met our lovely neighbours Sue and Keith who ended up joining us for dinner at the pub.

This place is a must see... The pub is awesome, very friendly staff and the park facilities were great and very clean.

Things we learnt...
1. We wish we had of been taught Australian history in high school. (It certainly would have been more interesting than learning about The Ming Dynasty which went in one ear and out the other and now have no recollection of.)
