Katherine, Northern Territory, Australia
24/4/2015 - 25/4/2015 — 2 nights Boab Caravan Park ($40 p/n)

Said farewell to the beautiful natural springs and headed North to Katherine which is only an hours drive . Quick set up then a drive out to Edith Falls.

Took the 20min walk up to the top pools and certainly wasn't disappointed... Beautiful rock pools and waterfall. I must say I was a little spooked swimming in there once I couldn't see the bottom... Water temperature was devine and the views were spectacular.

Walked back down to the bottom pool and enjoyed the water and the company of fellow travellers that we had bumped into at Bitter Springs.

Up a 4.00am the following morning for the Anzac Day dawn service. May have been there an hour earlier than necessary but chatted to a lovely man until the service started.

I must say I'm a little embarrassed to admit that it was the first Anzac Day service I have attended, but it certainly won't be my last. With around 2,000 people attending, it was a lovely service... and at the end of the last post all of the birds in the trees above eerily took flight .

Afterwards it was a gold coin donation for a cooked breakfast at the RSL. Lots of people were ordering Rum and Milk???? Not sure if this is an Anzac Day tradition, but we didn't partake.

Grabbed a coffee on the way home and back to bed for a quick nap before heading to Katherine Springs for a dip. There were a few gorgeous local kids doing their weekend thing and were happy to show off in front of us.

Back to the caravan park and finally got to take in an hour or two by the pool to read my book and catch some rays... (I know it's been a tough 3 weeks!)

Looking up at the cloudless blue sky with Wedged Tail Eagles soaring above me, I was grateful for this beautiful country we live in, and thankful to the men and women who gave up so much for us... Lest we forget.
