Lake Argyle, Western Australia, Australia
14/5/2015 – 16/5/2015 3 nights Lake Argyle Tourist Park ($39 p/n)

Headed West for the first time and crossed the WA border 5 hours later . Made another donation of fruit and veg at quarantine but did gain an hour and a half with the time difference… Winning! Another hour later and we arrived at beautiful Lake Argyle. Set up and spent a lazy afternoon relaxing around the infinity pool and checking the place out. Around 4pm we wandered down to the bar to listen to some live music and cash in on the Free WiFi… now I know why it was free, zero connection and only SOS on our phones. Oh well at least the music was good!

The following morning we went on a 3 hour lake cruise. Our Skipper Tracey was a wealth of knowledge… The lake is 70kms long and 55km wide and is nearly 19 times bigger than Sydney Harbour. If the dam wall was to break it would take over 4 years to empty… That is one big MOFO Lake!

We saw heaps of bird life, crocs and even some Short Eared Rock Wallabies. We stopped at a small island for lunch and got to wander around and swim if you wanted… Mark was the only one who got in the water . It amazed me that a Lake this size could be 27 degrees in temperature but the bloody infinity pool is a chilly 16 degrees!

Later that night we caught up with Pat and Bryan who we had met in Alice and another guy Craig from Wallan.

Did the walk to the Durack Homestead, which was interesting. The homestead was originally built in 1895 on Argyle Downs Station. In the early 1970's it was decided to remove the homestead before Lake Argyle began to fill. The homestead was dismantled stone by stone with every stone coded in such a way so as to be able to be rebuilt with every stone back in its original position.

From there we walked up to the Bluff to take in some amazing views of the Lake and surrounds.

Back to the pool for afternoon drinks, then another night of live music and daggy dancing.

I know I am boring but I am just loving your story. Go to the lookout at Derby. The salmon trees get better in the West..

OOps lookout was at Wyndym not Derby. Too late you are passed there now. The school of the Air was interesting at Derby. Don't forget at the Cape to view the sunset from the beach (west ) as well as from atop the cliff. Wendy showed me your visit to Bungles etc.

Glad you are enjoying the blog Enid... I'm certainly no writer though!

We went to the five rivers lookout at Wyndym... Certainly at great view...

We aren't staying in Derby but are doing the Horizontal falls and overnight stay from there... Can't wait for that.
