The Other Half

Cong, Western Ireland, Ireland
We woke up to a beautiful sunny morning, which made for a lovely drive to our next destination Cong. Located at the north end of Lough Corrib. We were lucky enough to be booked for one night at the glorious Ashord Castle. This is truly how the other half lives. This huge and luxurious hotel occupies a castle built in phases over the last 800 years. Very posh. We spent the afternoon walking the grounds and around the village of Cong. This village is probably most famous for being the setting for the film "The Quiet Man". In fact there is a statue of John Wayne and Maureen O'Hara at the entrance to the town. We returned to the village that night for a pub supper at Pat Cohan's Bar- delicious. Another walk by night back up to the castle and a nightcap in the Prince of Wales bar finished off the evening.

Looks like you are having great weather so far. Well done for driving on your own, I have too many friends who won't even try, and you miss so much.
