Flying from Heathrow

Penkridge, England, United Kingdom
Not a lot to write about today. Up around 5:00am and then into two cars for the drive back to Heathrow via the car rental depot. Bob and Lorraine Phillips will travel with me in one car while Gill and Colin Cooke will take the second car. The others are all leaving later in various configurations as not everyone is going to Heathrow today.

We are to follow Gill as he has the GPS and apart from going around one round-about a couple of times the journey is un-eventful.   We had allowed 3 1/2 hours, expecting traffic issues but it only takes us about 2 1/4 hours and then we drop the cars off and are ferried to Terminal 4.   A quick coffee and I look through the duty-free for some Glenfiddich Caoran but to my (and Bryony's) great disappointment I was told that it is no longer produced.   Guess we will have to find a new favourite.

Slight hiccup at the check-in counter as the attendant tells me my luggage at 33kgs is 3 kilos overweight. Brief moment of concern until I remind her that she has not factored in the extra 15kgs that Malaysian allows for sporting equipment.   Thanks Malaysian.   The flight is about as good as can be expected for a 12 hour flight. I watch several movies, have a couple of nice feeds, doze for about half an hour and then its touchdown time at KLIA around 7:00am local time.   I say goodbye to Col and Gill as they will be catching the onward flight to Brisbane around 10:15 and after gathering my bags - and not even seeing any customs area - catch the KLIA express train into KL Sentral.   From there its only a short walk to my hotel.
