Off and running Sifnos Day 2

Sifnos, Cyclades, Greece
Wake early and the bag still wont open despite a nights kip. I`m really on it`s case now!

Go to shop get some water and Jean got her tin of carnation milk with her holiday money , it was burning a hole in her pocket, which I guess she used the milk to put out .

I was going to take the bag to a car hire place, no not for a swop but, to cut through the zip pulls but, when we go down for breakfast our landlord does the deed. We seem to be the only guests, word must have got around we were staying there! A good breakfast was laid out and just as we do at home in deepest Chorley we eat outside. Very nice room with lovely views down to the bay and up the valley. There is also a large balcony, measuring in at 7 yards which is about 200 metres if you are French.

We have a walk across the bay and along a path to a church.Hardly a tourist about, we are not classed as grokels now but as locals. But Jean isn`t standing in any elections this year, the Islanders will be grateful.

Suicidal Jean goes for a swim in the afternoon. I have a paddle and you get used to the numbness after a while. The doctor says he may not have to amputate all my toes . Jean only says because of this result I should have ensured I got my trunks wet. What can she mean?

In the evening we go to a taverna near to our digs, Thyme, run by Herb and Oregano. We have a very nice Greek Salad and Jean is off the mark already with her first chicken fillet. She is always game for a KFC.

After eating her last chip we walk up the road towards Apollonia, it was so peaceful, great.

We call in for a drink at another taverna we are known to frequent. It seems a little different, has it changed hands? What has happened is that Mum and Dad have passed on the place to their daughters. Sophia the mother always made us very welcome.

Now I didn`t sleep well the previous night. This was due to some bamboo poles that were in the room for decoration that kept making a clicking noise, yes really! Do they get insects in them? Jean eventually admitted to hearing them, although she seemed a little bamboozled! So from now on they will be in the bathroom at night. This will be quite beneficial as it will give me something to cock my leg against when going for a pee!

Eurovision is on tonight to tired to watch all of it and give it up after Bonnie Tyler as Jean wants a hero!
