So, after completing my Iphone application for Disneyland Paris, I then started work on an ebook. However, the ebook includes not only Disneyland Paris, but several of the other theme parks in the vicinity of Paris that our family really enjoyed. What is cool about this is that it gives you options based on your circumstances. For example, if you want to go to a theme park but it is raining, your best choice is Disneyland Paris. However, if it is a sunny summer Saturday, if you have a car, and you don't want to be suffocated by the crush of humanity then Mer de Sable is the perfect choice for you. You can enjoy the weather while steering clear of the tourist hoards. I could go on but you get the drift.

Application Versus Book

Several people have asked me about the value of having both a book and an application of the same material . Personally, I see them as completely different beasts.

To my mind, apps are something that one uses while immersed in the experience. While I would hope that the "Before You Go" section would be read before someone goes..it may actually be read on the train to Disneyland. The ratings and the reviews will likely be read on the train or once in the park. It is a "on the go" type of medium, so I tried to make the app easy to read, digest and absorb while you are juggling popcorn, back packs, strollers and two kids on leashes.  

An ebook is something that is really designed to be read before you get to the park. It is great for compulsive planners. It helps you arrange itinerary, decide on a park strategy, and plot out how to handle food.   It also covers several other theme parks in the Paris vicinity, just in case Disney doesn't work for you or you want something new.   I include Mer de Sable, Parc Asterix and France Miniature, as each of these has it's own special feel. There are also times when one park will be better than another. For example, if it is a sunny Saturday in July, and you don't want to be trampled to death, then you may want to stay away from Disneyland Paris. However, with a car and an adventurous spirit, you can head to Mer de Sable which is a fantastic amusement park set on a spot of a naturally occurring sand in the middle of the forest.   Or, if you have older kids who are a bit jaded by Mickey and would find the rides at Mer de Sable too tame, then you can go to Parc Asterix.   I can go on and on but the book covers it. So a book can help you decide exactly where you want to go in the first place.

This whole process has been both a lot more complex than I was anticipating and a lot more rewarding. I have had quite a few mom's that I didn't know contact me to thank me for helping them really enjoy their time at Disney with their kids. That's what makes all this worth it!!
