It's the final count down!

Faversham, England, United Kingdom
OK, well I got paid today, that means there is now only 1 more pay day left before the monster holiday.

I've had this trip planned for so long that it seems incredible that it's nearly here. I've paid for it using the magic of plastic and paid for a yellow fever jab using real money. There's no turning back now.

I've travelled to many far off places over the last 20(ish) years but, apart from 2 beach/tequila/sunshine holidays I've never been to South America. I decided that to celebrate the momentous mile stone of reaching half a century I would go. I saw a tour in a Sunday supplement and as soon as the 2016 dates were released I booked it.

At the time I had hoped that the share save scheme that I had with my illustrious employer would pay for it. Frankly, I'm still getting over the disappointment that this is not going to happen at the moment but .... well... it's only money right?

The way I see it is if I don't do it now while I'm fairly healthy I might never do it. So, to my family, friends and whoever else happens to stumble across this blog stand by for the ramblings of a woman in late middle age travelling through 4 countries in South America. There will be cities - lost, ancient and new. There will be sunshine, mountains, beaches, lakes and sea. There will be altitude, attitude and determination. There will be trains, planes and automobiles - a catamaran and a possibly a few dodgy bus rides. There will be beer, weird local speciality cocktails, prime beef and exotic fruit. There will be tango, samba and most importantly there will be life changing experiences
