Rio de Janeiro, State of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
* For those who don't know there was a Brazilian singer in the 40's called Carmen Miranda who used to have piles of fruit on her head - this was one of her songs.

This morning I was disappointed to discover that the pool at the hotel at Iguazu didn't open until 9am . That was no good to me - we had to be out by 10am. The others on the tour were going on about how lovely the hotel was - me not so much. I got woken up by workmen drilling at 6.30am, the safe in the room was temperamental and the food wasn't that brilliant. All that meant I was happy to be checking out.

We went back to the waterfalls to see them from the Brazilian side. This was a bit more leisurely than yesterday with a bit more shade, less crowded and a lift to take you back up to the top when you've walked down. Today I saw a toucan and some gorgeous butterflies there as well.

After that we went to the airport and got the last internal flight to Rio. It all went smoothly until we got to arrivals and couldn't find the guide. He was there, he just hadn't bothered to hold his notice up. On the way to the hotel he waffled on about himself (boring), warned us about not wearing jewellery and didn't say much about anything else. We got to the hotel, checked in and when I got to the room I opened the curtains and saw my view - Copacona beach with Sugar Loaf mountain in the background. I could hardly believe it!

Tomorrow there's a tour with this same guide. I'm hoping he's going to be better than he was today.
