Day 6.13th May 2016. Friday.
Disney sea the first day
.
Zane forgot his glasses on the first day of Disney sea.
Zane, Zach and Sharon rode Caravan Carouse at ARABIAN COAST.
At 11:49 we rode Sindbad`s Storybook Voyage.
Then Zach and Sharon rode Journey to the center of the earth 2 times and Zane was asleep at that time.
Zane woke up. Zach and Sharon rode Indiana Jones Adventure in LOST RIVER DELTA.
Zane, Zach, Sharon and Godwin rode Aquatopia the boat ride.
We looked around and played in the Mermaid Lagoon.
We waited for a hour in the Toy Story Mania line.
At night we saw the NIGHT WATER SHOW.
The above lines were written by Zach, so I'm going to keep them :) The day started with the same breakfast at the Sheraton which was pretty sumptuous but repetitive
. We made plans with Farhat and family to meet up at DisneySea later in the day as they were running late.I also had to forward our suitcases to Kyoto which was easy enough to do and worked the same way as the first time around. It was the same bus and monorail combo to get to the park. We were all excited about this one because its the only one of its kind anywhere in the world, whereas the DisneyLand pretty much follows a similar format everywhere.
It was hot. It was really really hot. The boys were already looking grumpy hot and bothered. We had a plan in place which we put into effect immediately. Godwin was to run ahead and get fastpasses for Journey to the Center of the Earth while we loitered and slowing made our way through the park to meet up with him. It really is lovely, and we enjoyed the walk up towards Mount Pormetheus. We found Godwin who had secured our fastpasses. As we walked out the mountain, we saw the queue for 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, which didn't look long so we decided to line up. Unfortunately, these queues are very deceptive, because once we finished walking down the circular pathway, there was a longer queue underground. Oh well, we had already invested 15 minutes so we decided to go for it, especially because this was a covered area and we were out of the sun. The ride was okay, the boys enjoyed it. Once we got off and started walking away, a CM called out to us and came running up, Godwin had forgotten his cap. This is what I have noticed about the staff at the Tokyo parks, they are very particular about safety, and make sure they check all rides and return lost belongings immediately. Very thorough compared to other places.
We then headed towards the Arabian Coast where there was this Caravan Carousel that Zane wanted to try. I managed to convince Zach to come with us, and then we realised it was a two level carousel, there was one upstairs. So of course they had to go to the upstairs one. Once we finished, I watched in awe as they brought in a wheelchair bound person and used a sort of ramp to get them onto to the carousel so they could enjoy the ride. It must be so nice to live in a country where there is so much consideration for people with special needs. From here we headed to Sinbad's Storybook Voyage that was enjoyed by all and Jasmine's Flying carpets. Outside, near the Arabian themed Agrabah Marketplace, we saw some guy dressed up as Jaffar and took pictures with him. Again, the boys were hot and don't really know Jaffar so posed very un-enthusiastically. Oh well.
Then, we thought we'd better head towards the Journey ride as our fastpasses would be valid soon, and until that happened, we whiled away our time inside the Mermaid Lagoon, which was nice and cool. Most of the rides here are for younger kids. Zane liked them all while Zach just went along. We also decided this was a good time for a bathroom break and a quick snack from the snack bag. We texted Imran to come meet us here. There were network issues underground though so we kept losing connection and didn't hear back from them. Finally it was time for the Journey ride, that Zane couldn't do on account of being too short so Zach and I excitedly went. It was quite awesome, especially the part where you are literally ejected out of the side of the mountain and then dropped down. Talk about an adrenaline rush. By the time we finished, Zane was asleep and Zach wanted to do the ride again, since we had spare fastpasses.
Zane was still asleep by the time we done the second time around, and Godwin had already got us fastpasses for Raging Spirits, so Zach and I headed there. I didn't want to tell him there's a 360 degree loop. It was quite a walk from where Zane was napping in the shade. When we got here, Zach read about the loop and backed out. Sigh. There were warning signs everywhere and I forgot he can read. So we went back and while we waited for Zane to wake up, we bought and ate churros from the refreshment station nearby. Zane woke up hungry, and it was time to look out for some real food. So we headed towards the Lost River Delta where we found the Yucatan Base Camp Grill that had some good food but best of all, served alcohol! I thoroughly enjoyed the chilled beer with the food. Then Zach and I headed towards the Indiana Jones ride that Zane was again too short to ride.
We headed towards the Port Discovery where the main rides were Storm Rider, Aquatopia and the Electric Railyway. Zach wasn't interested in the StormRider so we went to do Aquatopia because the Railway had a huge line up. Zane absolutely loved Aquatopia. And so we had to do it again. Everyone was getting tired with all the walking now, the sun was setting and there was a chill in the air. And of course I had forgotten my jacket but luckily had carried the boy's so they were snug. We walked towards the American Waterfront where the boys climbed up on the ramp where the ship is docked to look through the telescopes. It was then time for a bathroom break, and we saw people all sitting behind roped areas patiently waiting for the parade. After the break, we took Grandma and found a nice place for her to sit and wait for the firework show that happens on the water that had an amazing view. While she waited there with the bags, and since there was still a lot of time before the show was due to start, we decided to do Toy Story Mania, where the fastpasses were exhausted but which showed a wait time of 55 minutes. We weren't doing anything so we decided to go for it. The wait wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, periodically, characters from the movie would come out and entertain those waiting. The boys especially loved the soldiers.
Toy Story Mania is more hype than excitement so while the boys loved it well enough, I thought it was a little overrated and not really worth waiting in line for a hour for. After the ride we literally ran to see if Grandma has managed to keep hold of our spot as the show was about to start and it had gotten really crowded while we were doing Toy Story. There were CMs managing the crowd nicely and not letting people crowd in the popular areas too much. We found Grandma and we were let through the roped area and made to sit down. Zane was tired and hungry and a bit grumpy but Zach enjoyed. Fantasmic is a nightly show with amazing effects that include pyrotechnics, water, laser fire and a giant dragon that happens on the water in the Mediterranean Harbor Lagoon. We waited for a while till all the crowds cleared because Godwin wanted to take a few more night shots. By now it was late, and so we had to forego the gondolas that we had wanted to ride, and we still hadn't managed to make contact with Farhat and family. Everyone was hungry again so we stopped at the New York Deli for food. We also did a little bit of shopping in the shops as this was our last Disney day and we were headed to Kyoto the following morning!
