Valparaiso fog

Valparaíso, Valparaiso, Chile
My body clock still seems to be on Sydney time as I woke up at 4am and had zero success getting back to sleep. I also lay there for three hours trying to decide if I was getting sick or not, which is hardly how I want to spend the first week of my trip (though perhaps better now than closer to the trek)!

As the end of the day approaches, I'm still not quite sure of the answer . I'm not quite sick but certainly don't feel healthy. Perhaps I should have stayed home and rested, but I knew I would regret that if I ended up being fine.

So I got up early(ish) and had the delicious breakfast the hostel provided - I can't believe I slept through it yesterday! Then caught the bus to Valparaiso with Luis, Freddy and Marcio. The weather was quite foggy and unhappy, so not nearly as nice a day as yesterday.

When we arrived, a woman from the tourist office greeted us as soon as we got off the bus. She was quite helpful but it became apparent that she was trying to sell us on a tour. We ended up giving in and agreeing to the bus tour - even though bus tours like this are everything I hate about travel - because it looked like it was going to rain and we didn't quite know how we were going to get around to everything there was to see. I was secretly relieved because I was feeling exhausted and unwell and it was easy to be driven from point to point.

Anyway, rather than going into detail about the whole day, I will just post some photos. Of course, I won't really be able to explain what everything is because I have absolutely no idea. The tour that I was promised would be half Spanish/half English left a lot to be desired in English. A lot of the explanations went on for five minutes in Spanish, getting lots of laughs, then a ten second brief summary in English. So I spent most of the following around blindly, feeling too poorly to put up much of a fight.

Anyway, without further ado: photos...
