Hanging in Bocas

Bocas Town, Bocas del Toro, Panama
Did Bocas yoga today at noon.  Loved it.  Want to stay here the rest of our time and do it every day.  Want to be her, making an easy living by teaching 1 $5 drop in class a day!  Cloudy day, just about to take a slow stroll around town.  Still undecided about staying or going.  And when.  Things seem mostly the same as last year when we were here.  A little more reggae, a few more for sale signs, a few locals we recognize.

Had dinner at Natural Mystic to give David our business.  Delicious dishes of steamed fish in a coconut milk / white wine sauce and an Asian chicken dish.  Both were excellent in flavor.  Learned that if we could grow tomatoes or lettuce here, we'd make a fortune.  We'll add that to our list of ways we could earn a living here...  1.  Bike helmet rental for those intelligent people who have a healthy fear of TBI, 2. sunglasses with removable sides for when you want to lay on the side of your head and still protect your eyes from the sun, 3.  Opening a Kwik Trip with 39c bananas, because everything grown in this area is shipped to the US, making it difficult for the locals to afford them  4.  Open a bakery - fresh, good bread is impossible to come by

Sitting at sports bar watching The Broncoes get creamed by the Patriots - Why is a loud drunk guy at the bar watching an NFL game so universal???  Nice long lazy day we had.  Felt like we should be doing something, but didn't need to be doing anything.  Michael did a little grocery shopping while I was at yoga.  Necessities like water, bread, cheese, wine.  Cloudy day, walked around town.  picked out where we want to eat the rest of our meals, checked on transportation if we decide to leave.  Tried to take a nap, but our hotel room is really loud, can hear doors opening and closing, kids running down the hall, right on a busy local boat dock by day and Bar Hundido by night (we remember this from last year as a place we were much too old to go into) and as I sit here now at 10 pm, I can hear the pounding base coming from it.  and, our side of the hotel faces it.

Sunday 11:15am
Rainy and dark this morning.  We had gotten ready for a bike ride and packed our backpack for a day at Starfish beach, but the downpour started as we were about to leave. Back at the NFL bar to catch the playoff games.  We ended up drinking cheap beers and people watching at Bar Hundido quite late.  Figured if their music was going to keep us awake, we might as well enjoy it.  We were at least 20 years older than most of the people there partying and thankful that we weren't one of them!  Spent most of our time there paying attention to a young drunk girl and making sure her friend didn't leave her alone. We've both observed that we're right in the middle of the young surf crowd and the older retirement crowd in Bocas.

I NEVER thought about the 'removable side' sunglasses.....a fortune just WAITING to be made!

So glad to hear you are still enjoying your relaxing time.
Na-mast.

PS----I think the sloth story is my favorite one so far.
