Saturday Slinging in Singapore

Singapore, Singapore
Both of my flights on Eva Air, the first one in to Taipei and then the one from Taipei to Singapore were delayed - ultimately just enough to make it so that Rhiannon landed first and got through immigration and spent about 10 minutes looking for me. I landed in another terminal and had a long line through immigration... but ultimately made it to her terminal and she found me.

We took the train to a stop near our hotel and walked to the hotel . I'm proud of this because I often bail and get a taxi when I first arrive in a new place. But it isn't entirely a new place and I'm really trying to budget. Of course, Singapore is expensive and we had to go to Raffles so we more than made up for the savings. But hey, it could have been worse!

Our hotel - although a 3-star - is very clean and artsy and breakfast was absolutely lovely. The room is tiny - but it all works and it's all new and sparkly clean. It is in a fantastic location, too.

So we checked in, cleaned up, then walked out to find Raffles Long Bar. It began to pour rain so we felt obliged to drink TWO Singapore Slings, each. We each tried different ones each time, so managed to sample four different ones. Then I had tried two others that last time I was here... so that's all of them, then! All good - some better than others.
When it stopped raining we stumbled drunkenly to the Merlion park, ineptly following google maps, Got tickets for the "bum boat" and Rhiannon got to see that ship-building, the Ferris Wheel and then the ride down the Singapore River to Clarke Quay where we wandered all about and watched the people being jetted to the moon in the slingshot ride. We had a meal - Rhiannon was craving oysters. Too expensive, but we'll behave better from now on - plus Singapore is the most expensive place we will visit.
