We only had to catch a 4p minibus to Hat Yai so we just took it easy in the morning, then hit the streets to wander aimlessly. We actually did have a couple of aims - a better backpack for Ree (now we knew exactly what she needed) and a charger for my camera. We managed to find both at super cheap prices very quickly and easily.
We stopped for breakfast at the indian place where I had fetched it the day before
. We wandered in to one of the typically asian multi-story malls, too. On the 5th level we found a nice meal followed by mango floss followed by a one hour foot massage. Ahhhhh.
Then back to the guest house to pick up our things and transfer Rhiannon's things to her new backpack. Then up the street to catch the mini-bus. We enjoyed chatting with a young couple who have been teaching in Thailand. Getting through immigration was an interesting multi-stop procedure but it was not torturous.
Arriving at the bus station in Hat Yai was pretty terrifying. Well, desperately confusing actually. But an angel arrived to help us. Dressed in an official looking khaki uniform and a little English she helped us navigate changing some money, purchasing our bus ticket to Phuket for the next day and securing a taxi ride to our hotel. Everyone was very kind and helpful and as far as we could tell took no advantage of our ignorance. If they did, it was worth it.
The hotel greeted us with the news that there had been a problem - but the solution was that had upgraded us to a gorgeous suite and breakfast was included. Probably I booked with breakfast included - but I certainly didn't book this top floor huge suite. Too bad we are only here a few hours.
We didn't take many pictures, sadly ... but have some of lunch and the nice hotel suite.
