Alex's birthday! First, Tiger Kingdom

Sunday, December 28, 2014
Chiang Mai Province, Thailand
We celebrated Alex's birthday before it was his birthday in the states. Then, of course, slept through the actual birthday. But we thought of him all day and in our dreams that night. :)

We made arrangements with the manager of the hotel to take us outside of Chiang Mai to some tourist destinations . We went to Tiger Kingdom, we visited a cultural village of the several hill tribes included the 'Karen Long Neck People' and we went ziplining. There are so many pictures that it will take me some time to go through them, but here is a random sampling for now.

At the Tiger Kingdom when you purchase your admission you purchase 'walking around only' or you purchase whether you want to visit the smallest, small, medium or big cats. On advice that the big cat had a long, long wait, Rhiannon chose the smallest and the 'medium'. It was a good choice. Jan and I both chose walking around tickets, but when we got over to the mediums, with no waiting, they kept insisting that I go in to take the pictures. Then the guy encouraged me to pet the tigers, too. There were four in there. Sometimes I just couldn't believe we were INSIDE a cage with FOUR LARGE TIGERS. Wild. The big cat, by the way, was quite a big bigger - I think we have a picture. But he just laid there and you had to wait a long time to get a chance to see him.

Next Rhiannon went to spend time with the two-month old and four-month old babies. We have many pictures of this.

This day was so eventful, with so many pictures, that it is spread across four blog entries. With this entry you will see many pictures of the tigers.
