Mt. Fuji

Odawara-shi, Kanagawa-ken, Japan
Every holiday has to have some disappointments. Ours happened today.

After missing out on seeing Mt Fuji for three days in a row on our walk we decided to have another try .
The weather forecast was for perfect sunny weather so on our way from Kyoto to Tokyo on advice from the tourist information centre, we interrupted our journey at Odawara. Some time before that we had a glimpse of Mt Fuji from the train so we were hopeful even though the view was very hazy.
Once there we decided to take a bus trip from the station to Lake Ashok. What was supposed to be a one hour journey through a lovely forest with a view of Mt Fuji at the end, became 2 hours each way with a lot of it in bumper to bumper traffic. It being a beautiful sunny Saturday everyone was there for the weekend.
When we finally got there we could detect only a very faint outline of Mt Fuji. Bummer, no Mt. Fuji and a two hour crowded bus trip back.

We finally made it to our hotel in Tokyo around 7:00pm exhausted and hungry.
The rooms at least are luxurious with a great view over the city and the Tokyo tower.
