Sorrento, Campania, Italy

We left London at 4 am by taxi for Stansted airport, we arrived at Naples on time before 10 am but Antonio, the driver who was supposed to pick us up was half an hour late. He did apologize and he gave us a good running commentary about the places we passed; He also took us on a longer scenic route and to the supermarket for shopping in order to make it up to us which was very nice of him. He dropped us at the Gocce de Capri apartments.

On this trip, we were group of four friends and the hotel rooms would been small for us so we decided on staying in the apartment so we would have more space which was a very wise decision. We had a two bedroom apartment with a large balcony with stunning views of Capri which is ideal for relaxing for a drink or to chill after a day out sightseeing the Amalfi coast and also for watching the sunset which was fantastic!! The apartment has fully equipped kitchen so we could make our own breakfast or snacks if we liked. The apartment is very reasonably priced with nice clean comfortable rooms and friendly staff, the pool was quiet and also has a great view of the sea. I had been corresponding with Claudia who had arranged our transfers and we were all made to feel very welcome by the owners Marco Claudia and Mary who all spoke perfect English, they arranged the tours for us the next two days. The hotel is set, a little out of the way about 25 minutes' drive from Sorrento and the area is very quiet; it is an excellent base for those who like walking along some of the marked trails and routes around the local area and the beach.

We walked from the hotel to the town of Termini which is about 5 minutes’ walk from the hotel to buy the grocery at the local supermarket and you can catch a bus from Termini going to Sorrento and also down to the beach, other way for 1.30 Euro per person but you need to buy a ticket before from the local shop just near the bus stop. There is a restaurant on site where we had a very lovely pizza and in the villages nearby have some lovely restaurants. We then walked further on the bendy steep hills with beautiful gardens, orchards and on top of the hill; there were brilliant views. We met a local who was selling local produce outside and after we returned from our long walk; we bought some authentic tomatoes and fruit from him which were delicious. We watched the beautiful sunset which was breathtaking from the balcony and                                             everybody was happy with my choice of the apartment.
