Hash and Aftermath

The Hash last night was a great time. This was the second annual Beer Factor run, a Hash interpretation of Fear Factor. It was also technically a Full Moon Hash because the full moon was Friday night and they decided to combine the two. Also, it was the Halloween Hash, so costumes were recommended and aplenty.

While there was definitely some jungle, the focus was more on challenges . They broke us into teams of 5. They did it in a way that put people who signed in together on different teams, so Dave, Suka, and I were all on different teams. I'll spoil it. My team won pretty handily.

So you may ask, "Won what?" That's where the Fear Factor thing comes in. It was broken into a bunch of mini-runs between challenges. As for the challenges, imagine adult, co-ed, frat boy drinking games with sexually suggestive titles and situations. The titles were things like Frank-in-Stein, Beer-kaki, and something about pumping elephants. There were substantial restrictions on use of hands and some use of blindfolds, but never at the same time.

Suka had her first Halloween costume ever for the event. She was a cute little bunny. We forgot to bring the teeth, but they would have had to come out for the challenges anyway. Dave dressed in drag. I took a leap and dressed as a bicyclist.

The Hares managed to find a bunch of abandoned buildings and houses in one area . One family was having a haunted house on their property and the Hares arranged for the Hash to track through it. There was also a really cool Japanese cave that we want to go back and check out.

I ran well. This was surprising after the bike race earlier. For the team competition, we all had to stay together and one of our members is normally at the front. His slow day is faster than my fast day, so it spurred me on to faster running. He did the 100k earlier in the day, too, so I think that slowed him down a little.

Today I have a bit of a fever and a possible sinus infection. We're laying low. I have to do some work and laundry and get ready for the trip to China. Japan actually has thermal scans at the immigration points to detect people with fevers. I'm hoping either I'm healthy or that China doesn't have these. If they won't let me in, I'll sit tight in Hong Kong and try to get healthy. I have a couple of days of slack in the schedule because Continental only flies a couple of times a week between Guam and Hong Kong.
