Montbard, Burgundy, France
After a peaceful night we woke to a beautiful day and after a leisurely breakfast made the short journey to Montbard, where the municipal campsite was still open. - ACSI 14e.    We found it easily and after a very warm welcome got settled on one of the largest piches we have ever had.
It was of nice level gravel, with high hedges and big enough to give large areas of sun and shade. The toilet facilities were fine, although you had to let the water run a while to get hot.
There was even free wifi on the pitch but not very strong.
We had lunch sitting out in the warm sun and then went for a walk around the town.

Montbard is on the R. Brenne and the Burgundy Canal.

It owes a lot to a man called Buffon and there is a tower , museums and gardens named after him.

Montbard is unusual in that it has a station on the TGV line as well as the regional line. You can get to Paris in an hour!       We checked out trains to Dijon, but engineering works meant bus replacements which weren't very convenient.
We arrived back from our walk feeling very hot and glad to sit out in the sun for a while.
