........and then a warning light came on!!!!

Couhé, Poitou-Charentes, France
It was still raining up to and past 7am, so we hoped that the old saying - ' rain before 7, fine before 11' would come true.

We left early, still in the dark, so didn't see much of what seemed like a nice village. We stopped on the way for breakfast in daylight.

It was too wet and misty to catch a glimpse of Mont St Michel     As we headed towards Rennes, the rain stopped, the sun came out and we were congratulating ourselves on the lovely weather, when we noticed a WARNING LIGHT had come on on the dashboard!!.  We stopped at a layby and checked the handbook and found that it was to do with the emission control system and we should take it to a Peugeot dealer without delay.   We only had details of dealers in the UK and no wifi etc.
We came off the road at a commercial centre, but because of height restrictions couldn't get near enough to McD for free wifi.   We had a better phone signal so rang our Peugeot dealer at Bursledon nr Southampton.  They informed us that they only had details of UK dealers!  When Rob asked him if he was sitting in front of a computer screen, he reluctantly agreed to look up a Peugeot dealer in Rennes !!!! - and this is the garage which has serviced our MH for several years ( but not for much longer!)
When we later checked the city map for Rennes we could not find the street and the phone number did not connect!
As luck would have it, as we were on the slip road joining the motorway we spotted a Peugeot garage on the other side of the road, so we came off at the next junction and went back into the town of LIFFRE
We arrived at the garage at 11.40 am and at noon they would be shutting for a 2hr lunch break.  None of the mechanics or the receptionist spoke any English and my rusty'A' level French did not stretch to emission control systems etc. We showed them the picture of the warning light in the handbook and the mechanic reached inside the cab and connected up the portable diagnostic computer, ran the engine for a while. and then ushered us back into reception.

His companion then used Google Translate to try to explain the problem, which actually wasn't a problem.   They explained we would not actually breakdown, but if it happened again to get it looked at again.  I proffered my credit card , but they would not take any payment but wished us bonne journee and a good holiday in Spain!!
We reckoned that most UK garages would have charged at least £25 for 15 mins on the diagnostic computer and probably ripped us off for more!

The rest of the journey, around Rennes and Nantes, on past Cholet ( madame?) round Poitiers and onto the village of Couhe, just off the N10.
We stopped overnight at the Motorhome Aire here.  We went for a walk around the village and had a good look at the enormous old covered Market. (like the ones at Bouchy last year) and the chateau.
Just after we got back to the MH, guess what? - it started to rain.
We were the only MH in the designated MH parking and despite some noise fron the N10 we both got a very good nights sleep.

Amount spent today - Nothing.
