On the Beach

Aguilas, Murcia, Spain and Canary Islands
We left Bolnuevo and headed for Puerto de Mazarron to do some shopping. We found the strangest Lidl we have ever encountered - it was a tent!  A huge silver, temporary building, which was in fact a huge frame tent - the sort you can see on Army bases. Inside it didn't seem any different from other stores. It was obviously popular as there were at least half a dozen MH's in the car park.  We were surprised that even in euros prices didn't seem that cheap.
A pack of 3 mixed peppers (which are growing in plastic greenhouses for as far as you can see)
was 1.39e - they are 80p in Aldi at home!

We had decided that we would travel south along the coast and stop wherever the fancy took us.
We set off on the N332 to Aguilas.
On the way we passed lots of lettuces, grown in the open air, not under glass. There were whole fields of workers cutting iceberg lettuces - no wonder I only paid 40 cents for a huge one.

As we went round a roundabout (as you do) to bypass Aguilas I noticed lots of MH's parked on a beach. We doubled back and went to investigate and found about 25 MH's parked up on the beach. We managed to get a space in the front row, looking out to sea and decided this would make a good overnight spot - obviously 'tolerated parking'!

We had our lunch outside in the sun and then went for a walk to our right along the cliff path, marked with white marker posts.  This led past several small bays and beaches.
In a prime spot on the cliffs, looking down the coast we found a deserted villa. This had obviously had a serious fire which could or could not be the reason it was empty.

We ambled back to the MH and had a cuppa and some mince pies (Morrison's at Wincanton, 25p for 6, selling off on our way back from Amy's after Christmas!!) and then went for a stroll along the promenade, past the yacht club towards Aguilas.
We quite liked Aguilas, everything seemed neat and tidy and 'finished'. The hotel and apartment blocks didn't seem too high and the beach was superb, shaped in 2 semi-circles.
We had a good night, with the sound of the sea in the background.
