Los Escullos, Andalusia, Spain and Canary Islands
We woke up this morning to the tippety tap of light rain on the roof!  Luckily it didn't last long but the clouds didn't lift until after lunch.
We packed up and moved on to a campsite we had stayed at last year - Los Escullos. It was quieter than last year as they are working on some of the terraces and they are out of bounds.
A new CamperStop for MH's has opened on the junction of the road to Cabo da Gata and San Jose.   This only charges 10e for pitch, electricity, showers, loos and wifi so may have taken some trade away from the campsites.   It is next to a cafe, but, it is on a busy junction in amongst some tomato greenhouses and is 7km from the beach.  At Los Escullos you can walk to the beach and along the cliffs. Have a look at the photos to see what I mean.
Sorry if they seem a bit too much like last years!!

I was surprised at the small differences since last year.  Then the fort had been restored but was firmly locked, with a nice new sign outside. This year the sign was covered in graffiti and the gates had been broken open, giving access to the fort - which we took advantage of..
The beautiful lace-like rocks on the cliffs are actually fossilized sand dunes and are brittle like coral.   We were surprised how much damage had been done to this fragile environment by lots of walkers - but then Rob and I were part of the problem..... There was also a lot of broken glass and other rubbish scattered around.
I would imagine that at home, access to this lovely area would be carefully controlled and monitored.
