Navarrete, La Rioja, Spain and Canary Islands
Woke up to find we had had quite a sharp frost.
Town is about 1km away along a very straight road, passing vineyards and the local wine co-operative.  We decided not to take our bikes but to walk into town.
The camino goes right through the town, which has a couple of Pilgrim hostels. We walked up to the Church and weren't expecting much in a small town.  It was very dark and gloomy inside, with unusually a wood floor.    I put 1e in the slot for lights and....... WOW! - one of the best altars we have seen anywhere.   Very tall, extending over head and very wide, almost wraparound, you feel almost as though you are standing inside it - and because we were getting some shopping, guess who left the big camera behind?!!!   However, I did have my phone with me. I can't get it to connect by bluetooth, so I have emailed it to me and although the quality isn't that good at least I have a photo!

Apparently, because the town of Navarrete is right on the Camino it has benefited over hundreds of years from contributions from Pilgrims.

We managed to find a small supermarket and got some essentials.
We even saw a pilgrim complete with backpack just disappearing around a corner.
Didn't do a lot in the afternoon, but had a very nice bottle of Rioja DOC with our dinner ,and only 4e!
