Day 2 - Anchorage Fun Day

Monday, June 25, 2018
Anchorage, Alaska, United States
It’s been a few years since I’ve been here so it is nice to see how Anchorage has grown. Today was my fun day to play tourist and walk the city. I started the day, still adjusting tot the 4 hour time change, with a walk along the shoreline trail. With the second largest tidal fluctuation in the world, approximately 30 feet, I had a good view of the low tide mud flats. Alaska is truely a beautiful state. Later in the morning I found my way to the popular Snow City cafe for a coffee and breakfast burrito. Soon after I wondered down Ship Creek without a paddle to see how the local anglers were fairing. I’ve heard the salmon run is slow this year with several rivers closing to fishing. Since the tide was out, there was not much action on the river. Off to the Sunday outdoor market I went, followed by my own little brewery crawl. Well it was only 2 but the beer was delicious. Meandering the couple miles back to my room, I found myself in a situation. Unable to control my initial reflex to duck and dodge, I would have made a great YouTube video as I was attacked by a suicidal sea gull. Gaining my composure, I was able to capture some video of this terrifying feathered beast. Once back at my room I payed down for a nap, and apparently forgot it was just a nap, and woke up a few hours later. I ended the evening with a great conversation with the host, and a few local brews.  Tomorrow - Nome!!

Looks like so much fun. I didn’t get to see the bird because here in Minnesota there no reception

I kept trying to comment from my phone but that didn't go very well. You will have to share the video of the bird attack because it won't play on here. I like the stick in the mud but the bear looks a bit shy.
