I’m not sure how to even write this. Excitement is the best adjective. I made it to Nome where my cousin has been dredging in the Bering Sea for gold. An hour and half flight from Anchorage and I hit the ground running. Off we went to the barge and out into the Bering Sea. Another check off the list of dreams. We spent the good part of the afternoon dredging, then off to the beach to search for sea glass. This really is the last stop for civilization. Later in the evening we headed back to camp with the clean out from the days work. Along the way we saw the salmon are starting to run so we jumped out of the truck and threw the lines in. Bam, my first salmon on the line in many years. Had to teach these Alaskan’s how the FL boys catch fish. Back at camp the monsterous mosquitoes attacked everyone but me while the guys panned out the gold. Such a great day. At some point, in the midnight sun, I was dropped off at my Airbnb for some sleep. I’m too excited to even write this. Looks like I will be extending my stay in Nome.
