Chicago, Illinois, United States
We caught cab to ORD, no traffic, arrived around 6:30a for 8:00am UA flight that was very lightly loaded. Landed a bit early. Took cab to Aiko's B&B, 1411 Hopkins St, NW. DuPont Circle, 202-293-3039 ($95.70x6). It is a one bedroom first floor apartment with a living room with a small dinning room and pass through kitchen along with a bedroom with lots of closet space, a bathroom with a tub plus a combo washing machine drier. Perfect for us and with this heat we will need to wash our clothes at the end of the week. It is centrally air-conditioned. It is only about two [real] blocks from the Metro.

We took the red tube [to "Shady Grove] to Friendship Heights stop . [5 min, 5 stops] to the Doll Museum, 5236 44th St. NW. It is in a small two story former house in an area that is now been developed into an upscale shopping area anchored by a Lord &Taylor. Started by a women, who is spry in her late 80's, who is we met, it is a fun visit. Lots of doll houses and furniture. Some toys as well. International in scope. We were so drained of energy, we could hardly return to the Metro stop. Before descending, we took a break and had large iced teas at a restaurant at the corner.

When we got back to Aiko's B&B we took naps and then I walked 7 blocks eat to a brand new Fresh Fields and got some deli salads, BBQ chicken by the slice, some wheat rolls, cheese and milk for dinner.

This humidity just drains your energy.

Weather was mostly cloudy in the morning intense bright sun in pm. High 94°. V humid: 45% with dew point of 67% made the weather unbearable. They claimed the heat index was 110%! Winds SSW at 5 to 10 mph. That night: Partly cloudy Low 76°. Winds SSW at 5 to 10 mph. The humidity remained unpleasant.
