It was partly cloudy with a stifling heat with a high of 96.
Spent all day at Arlington National cemetery from 11am till around 4pm. Was horridly hot about 95 or more setting an all time record for today. The humidity was oppressive. We elected to take the tour bus because there was too much distance to walk and much of it was up hill. The first stop was President Kennedy's eternal frame. Just walking up the mild incline was not good. Perspiration was a constant problem all day. We did bring two bottles of water. One we had frozen, but it melted after about an hour and a half or so. It was so hazy that any vista shots back to the mall were not good at all.
After we visited any site, we just returned to where we got off the tour bus and got on the next one. The guides on the bus were quite good. The first one was celebrating her birthday today, so of course we all sang "Happy Birthday."
One of the highlights was the recent building dedicated to exhibiting and honoring women who have served in the armed forces since the revolution and civil war to recent actions including spies. It was very well done. If you knew of a women who had served, you could look up their information on a computer. There even was a gift shop. Seems every museum or attraction here in DC has a gift shop.
