Fell's Pt and return to Chicago

Monday, August 26, 2002
Chicago, Illinois, United States
Weather: overcast turning sunny
Temperature: probably in low 80's
Humidity: no where as bad as last days
Wind: very low
Breakfast: Au bon pain again
Lunch: airport deli: crab veggie soup and cheese sandwiches

I am writing this on the flight returning us to sweet home Chicago. (The next day when I drove down the outer drive from Fullerton south, Chicago looked great!)

We walked down to the Inner Harbor and caught the water taxi to Fell's Pt. to check out what was touted to be quaint small workers town houses, antique shops and Rush street like bars. The architecture lacked greatly because it was originally constructed for poor ship builders. The antique shops we really never discovered, although we did stumble across many junk and nostalgia shops of horrid quality. The only place we found was the very charming "Southern Accent Tea shoppe" and "The Petticoat TeaRoom" that was part of it. Located at 14 S. Broadway, it had lots of very nice tea service accessories and other charming items. We had a glass of Jassmine iced tea that was a surprise to us. it has little body. We then caught the water taxi again to return to the Inner Harbor area and had planned to visit the National Aquarium but realized that we did not really have enough time to do it justice and since it is large would require a lot of walking which Susan was not up to. It also cost close to $20/person. I never should have decided to get off at Fell's point.

We hung out at a Barnes & Noble located in an old giant power plant that also contained an ESPN Zone and a Rock place.

We returned to the hotel to pick up our luggage and went out to the airport to catch a 5:45pmflight that arrived Chicago at 6:40pm..

Photographic details, descriptions:
Subject: Skyline from the water taxi and a few store fronts on Fell's Pt. which are fun. One was a window with a lace curtain that was lacey but also included two cats. Also found a few store front windows of interest. One was an art gallery featuring local artist that had two drawings of women with enormous bee hive hair doos.
